Seems like every time a quilt needs a photo it's a WINDY day!
|Kinda thought the quilt was about to take flight!|
|My poor HUBBY is such a good sport!|
Seems like it is always rubbish pick up day, too!
Always trying to crop out the wheelie bins.
Ah! A break in breeze! Now we can get a look at this lovely quilt!
Quilt Pattern: Underground Blues by Janine Burke, slightly adapted.
Blocks: Kit from Creations of Kerrville
Setting Triangles and Binding: Riley Blake Wide Back in Nighttime
Backing: Pumpkin Pie Twightlight Cobblestone by Laundry Basket Quilts for Moda
Size: 72 x 88
Batting: Hobbs 80/20
Quilting: Long Arm by Mechelle Brown
Started: October 2016
Finished: March 2017
The quilting is lovely--all curves and flourishes.
I love the batik backing fabric--it looks great! However, it wasn't much fun to hand stitch through. Batiks are woven much tighter than quilting cotton so it was tough getting the needle through it. The hand stitching took much longer than I expected for a quilt of this size. Worth it though, it looks so pretty!
I made this quilt for my dear HUSBAND. He's color blind and blue is the only color he can see clearly, so it's his favorite. He just loves batiks, too. He's happy his quilt is finally finished!
Happy Quilting Days,
