Building a Scrappy Distraction

Back in July I was participating in Sarah's I May Have a Scrap Problem project. (Confessions of a Fabric Addict) I sorted out and trimmed strips from a couple boxes of black and white scraps.  My intention was to make curvy log cabin blocks, but I never could get myself going on that.  I was dithering over what kind of quilt I wanted to make with those curvy log cabin blocks.  Did I want to just use black and white?  Add a more colors?  Stick to neutrals?  And on and on.  In the end, I became totally stuck and just set the box of strips aside, although I did frequently find myself looking at the strips and thinking about how much I wanted to play with them.  I hate it when I pull this kind of over thinking stunt, but it happens quite a bit.

Now, after finishing my Sunset Cabin Quilt (HERE) I've been obsessed with traditional Log Cabin Blocks and with that block of black and white strips.  There was a yard of Maize Kona Cotton lurking in my stash left over from another quilt, so out it came and I cut up some squares, grabbed my Creative Grids Log Cabin Ruler and spent a little while stitching and had a test block.  Guess what?  I kinda love it!

Didn't want the pretty block to be lonely, so I made it a few friends!

And a few more........

Oh yeah.....I think my test block will soon have LOTS of friends!

Happy Scrappy Stitching, friends!
