2016 FAL: Fabulous Finish -- The Spicy Quilt!

Spicy is Finished!
Yes, that is how I feel about this quilt!

Pattern: Slab Blocks from Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkinson
Size: 70 x 78
Fabric: SCRAPS!  100% of the quilt top came from the scrap box.
Binding is Kona Pepper, I can't remember the pedigree for the backing
Quilting: Professionally Long Arm Quilted by Pat Boeck
Started May 2015 -- Finished September 2016

Pat quilted a sort of spikey meander all over the quilt.

The color word print for the backing turned out to be a bit of a mistake.  The printing is rather plastic-y and proved to be a challenge to stitch through.  My stitching sessions on the binding were shorter than I'd like because the extra oomph it took to get through the black areas made my hands sore.

With the exception of pulling the needle through that backing fabric during the hand stitching phase of the binding, this quilt was an absolute joy to make.   Watching the slab blocks grow from a pile of scraps into intricate looking and interesting blocks made each sewing session so much fun.  I know there will be another slab quilt in my future one day!

Happy Stitching!
