Recently I've been participating in an Autumn Mug Rug Swap on Ipernity. It's been a nice little swap. Quilting groups are just starting to use Ipernity, so this is my first experience since I opened my account on that photo sharing site. I was given Lettyb's name for the swap. I know Letty a little bit because we were in an online bee together. She is a very kind and talented person. In her preferences for this swap she mentioned she likes trees and leaves. It took me ages to decide what to make! After I finally settled on a design and got going I posted this little peek on the swap site after I appliquéd the leaves down on the Essex linen background.
Next some hand embroidered leaves were added and I layered and quilted the mug rug and posted another peek. The leaves were backstitched with perle cotton.
And here's the finished mug rug
Although I should maybe call it a mini quilt because at about 7.5 x 9.5 it's a bit big for a mug rug! I still struggle with working small.
What I Received:
Molly had my name and she made this wonderful mug rug for me! I just love everything about it. The colors and prints are just right. And Look at those perfect little flying geese! Not a point missing--Molly's patchwork is perfection! See that cunning little pumpkin--it's killing me with it's cuteness! I love it!
I love love the backing fabric, too!
Look at all the fun extras she sent along! There's autumn buttons, jack-o-lantern stickers, the cutest ever little bitty pincushion, an orange Sharpie marker and the fabulous fall fat quarter. I feel quite spoiled. For some reason Daisy thinks the orange sharpie is for her. She kept taking off with it when I was trying to take photos. She's a naughty little cat!
Isn't this a great fat quarter? I love all the little woodland creatures. And I think it is a fun coincidence that one of those trees looks a lot like the mug rug I made!
Is it Autumn yet where you live?
Still hot here!
I'm longing for Autumn!
