Scrap Jar Quilt-- A New Start!

Do you ever have those moments when an idea strikes you with such force that you have to act on it immediately?  Last Friday I dropped every single thing I was doing and dug through all this fabric.  It was flying around fast and furious while I sorted and stacked and then stacked and sorted some more!

My mind was running as fast as can be as I make those spooky stacks!
'Background, what can I use for a background?', I kept asking myself.  Suddenly it hit me, when I was in Texas the last time I picked up 5 yards of this print to use for another project, but then found something I liked even better and bought it, too.  I knew sooner or later I'd find a use for this, but I didn't think it would be this soon.

Want to see what I made?  Gee, I hope you said yes!
Here it is, my spooky cute Halloween Scrap Jar block!  I really love it!
In fact, I've decided to make a whole Spooky Scrap Jar quilt!

And I think I only need just one block....
Giant  44 x 44 inch Scrap Jar block next to the normal 12 x 12 inch block.
One seems to be enough, don't you think?  = )
My Spooky Scrap Jar Block is about 44 inches square, more than 3 times the size of the version I am making with Vintage Modern.

My plan is to add several borders to this giant block until it is grows to around 65-70 inches square.  I might even get this done for Halloween 2012!  Wish me luck!

No worries about my Vintage Modern Scrap Jar quilt, I'm not going to let it become a UFO!  My backing fabric for that arrived over the weekend, and you'll be seeing a progress report on it very soon!  Karin and I are both busy stitching!

Happy Stitching!

Brilliant! I love the way your Scrap Jar Star block morphed into a giant. This is going to be a great Halloween quilt. I can wait to see what you do with it next.

Very pretty/ Love how striking it is. What size did you cut your pieces? I think it would look great in Christmas colors too.

Yep, I agree, you are brilliant Girl! Your choice of background is perfect and it just makes those gorgeous colors pop. Sometimes you just have to strike while the inspiration iron is hot - it paid off! Well done!
