For a while now I've been saying if that follower number ever hit 600 I'd do a little giveaway.
Well, it isn't quite there, but it is getting very close! So how about a giveaway now?

This fabric is truly beautiful! Laura Gunn is a gifted artist, and recently her work has been printed on quilting fabric from Michael Miller. Each print truly looks like painting, Laura's fabrics are all about rich, saturated color and texture. These half yards could be the basis of a beautiful quilt, fabulous throw pillows or maybe a stunning tote bag. You should go have a look at her blog, Paint in My Hair. She also creates patterns for quilts, bags, clothing and home decor items under the label "Poppy Patterns".

Since I'm all about virtual quilting bees lately, I'm giving away a copy of this book! It is more than just a pattern book, it is the story of a virtual bee, the ladies who participated, and the wonderful modern quilts they created together. I enjoyed reading each quilter's perspective on the bee, and of course, spent ages admiring the photos.

Okay, you said no begging, so I won't, but I will say that this giveaway prize is so awesome!!
Right now, I have a few things that are making me happy. :) I'm in my dissertation year of my PhD which is really stressful, but it's the small things. My dog and cat (who thinks she's a dog) greeting me at the door when I come home. The sweet email from my mom just letting me know she loves me. My best friend who can tell what I'm feeling just by looking at me, and knows just what to do to lift my mood. Learning, finally, in my 30s, that it's okay to make mistakes and to start appreciating my own strengths. Seeing something beautiful in nature and trying to capture the color palette in a quilt. There are so many little things that can be easy to overlook in a typical stressful day. Thank you for the giveaway which pushed me to remember all these things that I have been taking for granted. :)

Before I started quilting, I'd been making garments, some out of quilting fabrics because there were so many more choices of colours and patterns. One of the things I made was a very simple draw string skirt using Laura Gunn's skinny stripes and Kona Lagoon which is a perfect match. I have had many compliments on that skirt and comments like "Where did you get that?" or "Where can I buy one?".

My sister-in-law and niece are on there way here from Glasgow to stay for the week - I couldn't happier!! I also finished a quilt this morning! We have lots of food in the fridge for the kids and guests, I'm very grateful!! Actually I'm happy about a million things right now :)

It's a beautiful, sunny day here and this afternoon instead of sitting in an office at work, I get to road trip on the highway for a 2.5 hour drive with a colleague. The car is ready to go and I have some special playlists ready on my iPod. I see an afternoon of driving through sunshine singing loudly to happy music with a pal. LOVE IT!!

I had two things make me happy today....first off this morning before work I was checking my email and was informed I won a $100 prize from a quilting shop online....I never win anything so was super excited and very surprised. Then when I arrived home from work my brand new machine was sitting on my front porch. WooHoo! *smile*
It's a beautiful, cooler evening here in northern Florida, I spent much of my day cutting a new quilt (!!!) and my sweetie is starting a fire in the fire pit, where we hope to be joined by any and all neighbors in the mood to visit! That is happy!

Good HAPPPY MORNING ! I made a purse , my 1st and only so far ! I used some prequilted fabric I have had for several years and it turned out okay , but I was not that 'excited' about it . Some family members told me they like it . I was out at a store and the YOUNG lady that checked me out told me she loved my purse ! that made me happy because I am 54 , and this gal was maybe 22 ! My DH and I went shopping this afternoon for food, he didn't complain once even though he was tired after a long day at work and it was the nicest feeling to go home having spent the food budget which is half of what we used to spend and to know we still have enough to keep us going..it is amazing me and it makes my day. I just smiled and laughed and chatted with shop assistants and felt on top of the world which hasn't happened for a while. I feel invincible when I have a day like today..the worst can happen but I believe we will get up and keep going anyway. Thanks for asking...I think those poppy fabrics are delectable.
